Robert T. Burns passed away on March 10, 2013 in the comfort of his friends and family at the Life Care Center of Leominster.
Born in Fitchburg May 4, 1942, Robert was the son of the late Cyril T. and Louise B. (Benson) Burns. He graduated from St. Bernard’s High School in 1961. A graduate of the 1968 Massachusetts State Police Academy, Robert served proudly on the Massachusetts State Police force for over 25 years, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant before retiring in 1990. An avid hunter and fisherman, he was a member of area rod and gun clubs and also enjoyed motorcycle road trips around New England and beyond with friends.
His is survived by his sisters Judith A. Guertin of Leominster, with whom he resided, and Phyllis Warner of Orange and his long time friend Carmelita Giambrocco of Leominster. He leaves behind two nieces and a nephew; Donna (Guertin) McIntosh and husband Robert of Lowell, Susan (Warner) Ellis and husband John of Orange and Wesley Warner and wife Brenda of Orange. He also leaves grandnieces and nephews, Miranda, Chloe and Robert McIntosh, Derek Ellis and Brian Warner.
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial mass at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 1400 Main Street, Leominster on March 23, 2013 at 10:30 am.
