LEOMINSTER ---- Robert W. Hastings, 80 years old of Leominster, died Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at home surrounded by his family.
Robert was born May 21, 1936 in Sterling, the son of Elmer F. and Bertha M. (Hitchcock) Hastings. He leaves his wife of 60 years, Cecile D. (Rocheleau) Hastings, 3 sons, Kevin R. Hastings and his wife Denise of Phillipston, Scott W. Hastings and his wife Peggy of Templeton, Robert W. Hastings, Jr., and his wife Mellisa of Leominster, his daughter Donna M. Boyle and her husband Gerard of Franklin, TN, 9 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, his brother Roland Douglas of South Carolina, 2 sisters Jacqueline Castagnetti of Sterling and Elaine Bartlett of Townsend, and many nephews and nieces.
He was predeceased by 2 brothers Elmer and Kenneth Hastings and by his sister Marion Woodcock.
Robert was employed for many years at ITT Supernaut in Clinton, later going to work as a welder at Steel- Fab in Fitchburg. He was life member of the Leominster Sportsmen’s Club, enjoyed hunting, fishing, country music and watching the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 4th at 10 am in the Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West Street, Leominster. Burial will follow in St. Cecilia’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 3rd from 5pm -8pm in the funeral home.
