LEOMINSTER --- Elaine Waugh McDonald of Leominster, MA, peacefully passed away in the presence of her family on February 27, 2017.
Elaine is predeceased by her loving husband of 50 years, Thomas Joseph McDonald, her devoted daughter Elizabeth Falk, and by her parents William Waugh and Cora Siggins Waugh.
She is gratefully and lovingly remembered by her children and their spouses, Elaine Lucas and husband Peter of Ipswich MA, Thomas McDonald and wife Ileana Barbu of Boulder CO, Elizabeth Falk (pre-deceased) and her husband Noble of Princeton MA, Peter McDonald and wife Kim of Leominster MA, Celine McDonald and husband Vincent Cipolla of New York NY, and William McDonald and wife Deborah of Clarksville TN. She leaves 11 grandchildren, Michael Lucas, Larissa Lucas, Erin Bonifacio, Gregory Falk, Daniel Falk, Amy Cipolla Stickles-Wynen, Sandra Clements, Olivia Cipolla, Gabriella Cipolla, Alice Hilton, and Sarah McDonald. She leaves twelve great grandchildren.
Elaine was born in Somerville, MA on July 15 th 1924. She graduated from Charlestown MA High School. She worked at New England Mutual company before being married and raising her family. She later worked at RH Whites and the Leominster Hospital. She resided in Bedford MA for fifteen years and resided in Leominster since 1964.
She had an exceptionally generous and welcoming spirit. She was always eager to share a holiday or to set an extra place at the dinner table for friends and acquaintances who would otherwise be alone. Elaine took great joy in her flower garden and in music and art. She asked that she be remembered with the phrase: “Keep on Dancing!”
Elaine’s funeral will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017 from the Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West St, Leominster, with a 1pm funeral mass in St Leo’s Church 128 Main St. Leominster .Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery Leominster. Calling hours in the funeral home will precede the funeral from 11am - 12:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Red Cross Organization, that served her husband so well during his internment during World War II, or to Kaplan Family Hospice, 78 Liberty St. Danvers, MA.01923.
