LEOMINSTER --- Allene E. (Johnson) Leger, 88 years old of Leominster, passed peacefully on March 24, 2017 at home surrounded by family.
Allene was born in Leominster, on April 4, 1928, the daughter of Wesley and Louise (Allen) Johnson and resided in Leominster her entire life. Allene was the devoted sister of Janice Brosseau, and the mother of 6 children, Jane Marcello and husband Dennis, Patricia LaPolt and husband William, Deborah Lowe, Allen Cormier and wife Kathy, Douglas Leger and wife Charlene and her late son Garry Leger. She was the loving grandmother of 11 and had 10 great- grandchildren and a great-great grandson.
She was predeceased by her husband of over 50 years, Ernest, her son Garry, her son-in-law Bruce, her brother-in-law Al and her nephew Steve.
While raising her children, Allene was a seamstress and foster mother. She later attended nursing school and became an L.P.N. She worked at Leominster Hospital, on her favorite floor, the Foster Wing, she also worked at Fairlawn Nursing Home. After nursing, she worked for many years as a receptionist at her daughter Deborah’s hair salon- Shear Class. She became passionate about quilting after retiring from nursing, and taught quilting and was a member of Johnny Appleseed Quilters, and Material Girls Quilt Group. She especially enjoyed going on quilting retreats with her friends.
Allene’s lifelong passion’s included family gatherings, sewing, quilting, gardening, canning, and spending time with her many friends. She was an active member of the Leominster United Methodist Church.
Allene’s Family would like to extend their appreciation to the hospice staff for their excellent care and support.
