LEOMINSTER----Doris (Girouard) Carignan, 84, formerly of Leominster, passed away on Tuesday, April 11th at her home in Fort Pierce, Florida surrounded by her loving family. She was a long time resident of Leominster born August 7th 1932 to Louie and Laura (Chaisson) Girouard. She graduated from Leominster High School in 1950. Doris married Richard “Dick” Carignan who predeceased her in 2006. They were married for 51 years. Doris was best known for her signature smile, infectious sense of humor and impeccable style. Her positive attitude and light hearted character brought many friends into her life and she in turn, was a wonderful friend to all. Doris was a member of Oak Hill Country Club for many years and enjoyed golf although the social aspect of the club was by far her favorite thing.

She leaves her daughters Lisa Kurasowic of Fort Pierce, Florida, who cared for her mother daily, and Linda Bourassa and her husband, Jerry, of California. She leaves her sons, Thomas Carignan and his wife, Joanne, of Leominster and Kenneth Carignan of California. She also leaves seven grandchildren, Richard and Ryan Kurasowic of Leominster, Austin Bourassa and Talia Carignan of California and Christopher, Alex, and Kate Carignan of Leominster, two great grandsons and many nieces and nephews. Doris also leaves two sisters, Jaye Girouard of Westborough and Carol Salvatelli of Leominster, her brother and former mayor of Leominster, Richard Girouard predeceased her in 2009.

Doris’s children would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the hospice group in Fort Pierce for their kindness and compassion.

A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, April 29th at 9 am in St. Cecilia’s Church, 180 Mechanic Street, Leominster. Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 28th from 6-8 pm in the Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West Street, Leominster. Memorial donations may be made to Treasure Coast Hospice, 1201 SE Indian Street, Stuart, Florida 34997.

To Doris' Family:

We heard of Doris' passing this morning and it brought a host of memories of you all. We were all young on Granite St. so long ago. Have fond memories of our good times and you have our sympathy for your loss. Your Mother will be remembered for her love of life and you.
