Assunta M. Pollastri

August 1924 to July 25, 2017

LEOMINSTER----Assunta M. Pollastri, known as "Sunny" or "Aunty Sunny" to all her friends and relatives, died on July 25, 2017 at home in her sister’s house where she had also previously lived many years before, and then again later in her life.

She was born to Panfilo Pollastri and Adelaide DeSantis (both from Italy) in Leominster, Massachusetts where she lived within that town for most of her life with her sister Philomena and then later in life with her youngest sister Eva so that her elderly needs could be tended to.

She was the second of the family's six children, and was pre-deceased by parents Panfilo and Adelaide, sister Philomena, and brothers Salvatore, Emilio, and Pasquale (known to all as Phillis, Sal, Amy, and Pat).

Other close family members that she was predeceased by were her brother-in-law George Leazott, Jr. and sister-in-law Mary McGregor Pollastri.

She is survived by her youngest sibling and caregiver Eva Pollastri Leazott, nephews George (Nichole) Leazott III, Mark (Cindy) Pollastri, Michael (Sally) Pollastri, nieces Carolyn (Dana) Gordon, and Janice Pollastri, sister-in-law Elizabeth Schrmack Pollastri, sister-in-law Jeanne Girouard Pollastri and step-niece Sandra (Rheal) Leblanc.

She grew to have a strong work ethic and was a member of the "25-Year Club" at Foster Grant Co. in Leominster from which she retired. Her lifelong Christian values came from St. Anna's Church on Lancaster Street near where she grew up and lived many years into her adult life and enjoyed traveling with her sister Philomena for many years to various cathedrals and shrines throughout New England during her retirement. In her younger days she enjoyed many day-trips to the beach and to theme parks and even a few weekends to Montreal.

Private family services were held August 1 2017, and Assunta was laid to rest beside her parents and sister Philomena at St. Leo's Cemetery, Lancaster Street, Leominster, Massachusetts. In lieu of flowers a donation in her name may be made to St. Anna's Restoration, in care of St. Anna's Church, 199 Lancaster Street, Leominster, MA 01453.
