LEOMINSTER---William “Bill” J. McDonald, 51 years old, of Leominster, died Thursday, October 5, 2017 in UMass Memorial Medical Center-University Campus in Worcester following a battle with Cancer. He is survived by his father Gerald C. McDonald of Leominster, sister BettyAnn Harrington of Leominster, 2 brothers Jerry V. McDonald and wife Lea of Lunenburg, Vincent C. McDonald and wife Michelle of Fitchburg, his longtime girlfriend Karen J. Casey and her daughter Caitlin Casey of Leominster, nieces Heather (McDonald) Shattuck and husband Jason of Leominster, Rebekah McDonald of Fitchburg, Amelia McDonald of Lunenburg, nephew Lee McDonald of Lunenburg, and great nephew Noah Shattuck of Leominster. He was predeceased by his mother Lorette E. (Gould) McDonald in 2003. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Bill was born July 19, 1966 in Leominster and had lived in Leominster/Fitchburg area most of his life. He graduated from Leominster High Trade School in 1984 and was a self employed carpenter. Bill was a member of St. Cecilia’s Church in Leominster. He loved custom woodworking, country music, and playing his guitar. He enjoyed being with family and friends and his sense of humor was contagious. On behalf of the family we wish to give special thanks to Carrie from the Health Alliance Simons-Sinon Regional Cancer Center of Fitchburg. Carrie was Bill’s primary care nurse and she had a way of brightening his day. Bill always enjoyed making her laugh.

Bill’s funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 11th from the Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West Street, Leominster with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in St. Cecilia’s Church, 180 Mechanic Street, Leominster. Burial will be in St. Cecilia’s Cemetery, Leominster. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, October 10th from 5-7 pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the St Cecilia’s Restoration Fund, 170 Mechanic Street, Leominster MA 01453.

WE ARE SO SORRY FOR LOSS I REMEMBER BILLY FROM WHEN WE WERE KIDS MY BROTHER MARK ELLIS ALWAYS HUNG AROUND WITH BILLY HE WAS ALWAYS POLITE AND SO NICE TO ME AND MY FAMILY EVEN THOUGH WE HAVEN'T SEEN HIM IN YEARS I STILL HAVE VERY FOND MEMORIES OF HIM.
