Cynthia Smith Obituary

Cynthia Smith, 68, beloved mother, wife, sister, and teacher, passed away on April 15th, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion that touched the lives of all who knew her.

Family meant everything to Cynthia, and she poured her heart into creating cherished memories with her loved ones. Her joyous sense of humor brought laughter to every gathering, making even the simplest moments feel special.

Cynthia's deep connection to her faith and her community at Washington Valley Christian Church of Cambridge Springs, PA and Leominster United Methodist Church enriched the lives of those around her and served as a source of strength and inspiration. Her unwavering faith was a guiding light in her life, anchoring her in times of joy and adversity.

Throughout her career at Leominster Public Schools, Cynthia's passion for literature and education shone brightly. As the librarian at Northwest School, she nurtured a love of reading and learning in countless students, leaving a lasting imprint on the hearts and minds of all who encountered her. She took great pride in creating beautiful experiences for others.

As a cherished member of the community, Cynthia embodied the values of compassion and selflessness. Always ready to help, and most often unseen behind-the-scenes, she dedicated herself wholeheartedly to caring for others, making sure everyone felt seen and valued.

Whether picking blackberries on the family farm in Pennsylvania or collecting seashells in Sanibel, Cynthia found solace in the simplicity of the natural world. Her love of gardening was a reflection of her nurturing spirit, and she delighted in preserving the harvest with her family, creating cherished memories with each jar, notably peaches, pickles, and applesauce.

Cynthia leaves behind her husband of 47 years, Steven, and their two sons, Jordan and Jeffry. She is survived by family including Julie and Rob Ludwig, Gary Metzenbacher, Sue and John Burton, and Sharon Chrisman, as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Cynthia's legacy of love, kindness, and laughter will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her family, friends, and all who were touched by her gentle spirit.
