Sean Gibbons Obituary

Sean Christopher Gibbons, 39, of Melrose, formerly of Lunenburg, died February 9, 2024.

Sean was born August 11, 1984, in Boston, son of Donna (Kadison) Gibbons and the late Robert F. Gibbons. He was raised in Lunenburg. Sean graduated from Acton Boxborough Regional High School and went on to graduate from Pace University in New York City. After graduating from Pace, Sean worked in marketing for the New York Times while living in New York City for 14 years.

In 2016, Sean decided to return to Massachusetts to be closer to his family. Upon his return, Sean embarked on a new career path and in 2017 he completed his studies to become a Boat Captain. Sean went on to work for Boston Harbor Cruise Company and finally ended up at Charles River Boat Company as Lead Captain.

He was a natural boat handler, a sponge for knowledge and was respected and well liked in the water. Sean was loyal to and protective of his friends and co-workers. He was also laser sharp, very smart and funny.

Outside of work Sean loved being outdoors, especially on the water or the ski slopes. Sean would spend a lot of time at his family home helping with the garden he built for his mother along with many other home projects. He composed, played and recorded his music. He was always working on a new invention with his 3D Printers.

His sense of humor, creativity and dedication to family and friends will be missed immensely. He was an amazing son and friend to those he loved and cared about.

Besides his mother, Donna L. Gibbons of Lunenburg, he leaves two brothers, Eric W. Gibbons of Lunenburg and Michael J. Gibbons and wife, Jillian of Leominster; his niece and nephew, Isla and Owen; his maternal grandmother, Ellen (Miller) Kadison of Lunenburg; aunts and uncles, Linda and Richard Trombi of Leominster, Margaret Gibbons of Newton and David and Christine Kadison of Martha’s Vineyard.

He was predeceased by his father, Robert, his paternal grandparents, Henry and Arlene (Hall) Gibbons and his maternal grandfather Charles G. Kadison, Jr.
