Vincenza DiForte Obituary

Vincenza "Jenny" Amico DiForte, 87, of Leominster, MA passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at The Highlands Nursing Home in Fitchburg, MA.

Vincenza was born on January 20, 1937 in Caltanissetta, Sicily, Italy daughter of the late Michele Amico and Rosa Salerno Amico. She was preceded in death by her son, Salvatore Louis DiForte and her sister, Lucia Amico.

Vincenza is survived by her husband, Louis DiForte; son, Michael DiForte; daughter, Lisa DiForte and boyfriend, Jeffrey Bonin; her grandson, Michael DiForte, Jr. whom she loved very much and her precious great-granddaughters, Baylee and Violet; her brothers, Salvatore (Bonnie) Amico, Joseph (Linda) Amico, Louie (Anne) Amico and Angelo (Susan) Amico and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and godchildren.

Vincenza came to the United States in February, 1953 at the age of 16 with her mother and younger sister. Her father and brothers came later in October, 1954. She immediately started working at Sportsmen Plastics in Leominster and took evening classes to learn English.

Vincenza and Louis were married on June 11, 1960 at St. Anna's Church in Leominster. They would have celebrated their 64th Wedding Anniversary this year.

Vincenza worked at DuPont for many years and later retired from Mi-Lor Corporation in Leominster.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. We were blessed to have her as our mother, there aren’t enough words to describe how special she was to all of us. Vincenza loved spending time with her family and enjoyed hosting holiday gatherings and cooking her delicious Italian food. She also was an excellent baker; she would often bake her favorite Italian Anise cookies and at Christmas would bake extra batches and deliver them to the neighbors. She loved working in her vegetable garden, planting beautiful flowers, decorating her home and loved traveling with her husband Louis. Vincenza was a person who was full of energy, she was unstoppable and unforgettable. We will forever miss her and her beautiful smile. We will love her always.
