Charles Koski Obituary

LEOMINSTER---Charles E. Koski, 78 years old of Leominster, died unexpectedly on Monday, October 9, 2017 in Clinton Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 51 years Dorothy C. (Lake) Koski, his brother David V. Koski and his wife Rev. Cynthia G. Koski of Middletown, DE, several nieces and nephews.

Charlie was born in Fitchburg on July 12, 1939, son of Aarne and Allie I. (Kokkinen) Koski and had lived in Leominster the past 30 years. He graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1957, received his Bachelor’s Degree from University of Massachusetts in Amherst and his Master’s Degree from Northeastern University in Boston. Charlie served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1961. He had been an accountant at General Electric in Fitchburg for 23 years and then along with his wife owned and operated GIT Travel in Leominster for 20 years.

Charlie was a Past District Deputy Grand Secretary of the 13th Masonic District, a 50 year member of the Masons, Past Master of Charles W. Moore Lodge in Fitchburg, Past Master of Wilder Lodge in Leominster, holder of the Joseph Warren Medal for Meritorious Service, General Grand Chapter International Headquarters Committee from 2006 to 2009, Past Grand Patron of the Grand Chapter of Massachusetts Order of the Eastern Star 1997-1998, member and Past Patron of Jessamine Chapter No. 75 in Gardner and Ida McKinley Chapter No. 86 Order of the Eastern Star in Ayer, on the Advisory Board for the International Order of Rainbow for Girls and holder of Grand Cross of Color for Dedicated Service and a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and Rebekah. Charlie also was a member of the Pilgrim Congregational Church in Leominster and served on the Board of Directors of the Worker’s Credit Union for many years and presently was an honorary member of the board.

Charlie’s funeral service will be held on Friday, October 13th at 10 am in the Pilgrim Congregational Church, 26 West Street, Leominster. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Leominster will be at a later date. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 12th from 5-8 pm in the Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West Street, Leominster. A Masonic Service will be held at 6:30 pm and an Eastern Star Service will be at 7:30 pm. In lieu f flowers memorial donations may be made to Grand Chapter MA "Isadore Forbes Benevolent Fund' in the memo, PO Box 600583, 302 Walnut Street, Newtonville, MA 02460.
