Cora Y. (Gionet) LaPointe

LEOMINSTER---Cora Y. (Gionet) LaPointe, 88 years old, of Leominster, died Sunday, June 11, 2017 in the LifeCare Center of Leominster after an illness. She is survived by her 2 sons Patrick LaPointe and his wife Susan and Roland LaPointe, Jr., both of Leominster, 2 daughters Sandra Culley and her husband Michael of Florida and Michelle Napoli and her husband Jeff of Shirley, sister Corinne Brassard of Leominster, 12 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 37 nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Roland J. LaPointe, Sr., brothers Robert, Girouard and Arthur Gionet and sisters Teresa Munce and Doris Ebb.

Cora was born January 31, 1929 in Berlin, NH, daughter of Patrick and Florida (Collard) Gionet and had lived in Leominster for many years. She attended Angel Guardian School in Berlin, NH and had worked at Union Products and Foster Grant in Leominster for many years, before retiring in 1984. Cora was an avid Bingo player, loved the Boston Red Sox, shopping with her sister Corinne and spending time at the pool with family and friends.

Cora’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the LifeCare Center of Leominster, especially Elaine, Lynette, Nicole and Nittsa for all the compassionate care given to their mother.

Cora’s funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 14^th from the Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West Street, Leominster with a mass at 10 am in St Cecilia’s Church, 180 Mechanic Street, Leominster. Calling hours are Tuesday, June 13^th from 4 - 6 pm in the funeral home. Burial will held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Leominster Eagles Alzheimer’s Fund, 456 Litchfield Street, Leominster, MA 01453.
