LEOMINSTER----Irene Edith (LaCroix) Viens, 79 years of Leominster, died Friday, April 28, 2017 in UMass Memorial Medical Center-University Campus in Worcester after an illness. She is survived by 2 sisters Marie Chapman of Nashua, NH and Betty Legere of Hyannis and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas Viens in 1980, her daughter Beth Viens at birth and her brother Nelson LaCroix, Jr.
Irene was born September 27, 1937 in Leominster, daughter of Nelson and Helen (Spring) LaCroix and was a life long resident. She graduated from Leominster High School in 1955. Irene had worked as a computer specialist at the former E.I. DuPont Company and then Mylor Plastic in Leominster for over 45 years. She had owned and operated a ceramic shop Civet Ceramics for many years. Irene was a member of the First Baptist Church in Leominster, where she was former Sunday School Teacher. She took great joy in painting and was a second mother to her many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 5th from 4-7 pm in the Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West Street, Leominster. Burial will be private in Evergreen Cemetery, Leominster. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 330 Congress St., 5th Floor, Boston, MA 02210.
