FITCHBURG---Jasper “Joe” L. Trapani, 89 years old, of Fitchburg, passed away at home on Thursday, May 10, 2018. He was born in Fitchburg on January 20, 1929, the son of Italian immigrants Luigi and Josephina (Teri) Trapani. Jasper graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1947, where he was caption of the varsity track team. He received an associates degree in accounting from Becker Junior College in Worcester. Jasper was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. He worked for the City of Fitchburg in the water department and for the Mass Division of Employment Security.
Jasper is survived by his wife Mary P. (Sweeney) Trapani, son Jeffrey J. Trapani and Donna Bell of Gardner, daughters Tammy M. Piermarini and husband David of Leominster and Becky M. Schofield and husband Charles, Jr. of Clinton, Maine, grandchildren Tara Melot and husband Ricky, Andrew Schofield and wife Stephanie, Timothy Schofield and husband Kyle, Nico Piermarini, Bob Johnston, Joshua Trapani, and Lynn Trapani, 3 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his grandson Todd Schofield, a brother Salvatore Trapani and sister Marion Hughes.
The family would like to thank the Oncology and Radiation teams at the Burbank Campus and the HealthAlliance Home Health & Hospice caregivers.
A private service will be held at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon. The family requests no flowers.
