Kellie Lynne Ward, 41, of Leominster passed away peacefully on September 3, 2019 while in the CCU at Leominster Hospital with her family by her side. She is survived by her parents, Michael A. Ward and Joan (Lagace) Ward of Leominster, Ma.
Kellie attended the Johnny Appleseed School, Leominster, Ma. and was graduated from The Bromfield School, Harvard, Ma. After graduating from Bromfield, Kellie became a United States Marine. She lived for a number of years in Walnut Creek, California, where she served as a Marine recruiter. Upon returning to Leominster Kellie enrolled in the University of Massachusetts Boston where she was awarded her Bachelor's degree in Biology/pre-med.
Upon graduating from college she began her work at Quest Diagnostics. Later, she was employed by the Parexel Inc. of Lucerne, Switzerland, where she worked as a technological advisor for pharmaceutical companies during their clinical trials held throughout the world.
Throughout her entire life Kellie was a passionate advocate for the humane treatment of all animals, especially dogs. She volunteered many countless hours at area animal shelters. Through her rescue work, she adopted her first dog, Kiva, who spent her entire life as Kellie's companion. Her current "furever friend" is an American Bulldog, named Neesa. She also volunteered for many years as a teacher/coach for the Special Olympics Ski Team where many children and adults were touched by her patience and love.
Besides her parents, she is survived by her brother, Sean, and his wife, Bonnie of Sandy, Utah.
A funeral service for Kellie will be held on Tuesday, September 10th at 11 am in the Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West St. Leominster. Burial is private. Calling hours will be held Monday evening, September 9th from 5~7pm. Her family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to: Ahimsa Haven Animal Rescue 381R Baldwinville Rd.
