Lena M. (Vairo) Cali

LEOMINSTER --- Lena M. (Vairo) Cali, 86 years old, of Leominster, died Monday, March 12, 2018 in Sterling Village.

Lena was born October 17, 1931, in Leominster MA, the daughter of Anthony J. Vairo and Pasquina (Diasio) Vairo. She leaves her 2 daughters, Patricia Creen and her long time companion Stephen Holmes of Auburn; and Joanne Fellows of Leominster and Harwich; 5 grandchildren, Matthew Creen, Michaela Creen, Rebecca Fellows, Amanda Fellows and Andrea Fellows, and many nephews and nieces.

She was predeceased by her husband, Samuel P. Cali in 2012, and by her brother Joseph Vairo.

Lena graduated from Leominster High School in 1949, and received a Bachelors of Science Degree. She worked as a Registered Nurse at various nursing homes and hospitals throughout the area. She was a very active member of St. Anna Church, and was involved in the League of Women Voters.

The family would like to give a heartfelt thanks to the staff at Sterling Village and Trinity Hospice for all the care and compassion given Lena.

Lena’s funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 from the Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West St. Leominster, with a funeral mass at 11:30 am in St. Anna Church, 194 Lancaster St. Leominster. Burial will follow in St. Leo’s Cemetery, Leominster. A calling hour will precede the funeral from 10am - 11am. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Dementia Society of America - PO Box 600 - Doylestown, PA 18901, or to St. Anna Church Restoration Fund, 194 Lancaster St. Leominster MA. 01453.
