LEOMINSTER ---- Leon D. Hume, 90 years old of Leominster, died Friday July 20, 2018 in UMass Memorial - University Campus Worcester.
Leon was born June 29, 1928 in Lowell MA, the son of Albert and Madeline (Davenport) Hume, and came to Leominster in 1966. He leaves his wife of 41 years, Luann S. (Booth) Hume, 2 step-daughters, Diann Starratt and her daughter Emily of Ashland, Jayne Dandley and her husband Sean of York Harbor Maine, 2 step-sons, Steven Drury and his wife Andrea of Ashburnham, and Derek Drury and his girlfriend Jenn Taverna of Westminster, his brother Richard Hume, and many nephews, nieces and step-grandchildren.
Leon was predeceased by 3 sisters, Lucille Hume, Phyllis Ladd and Elizabeth Brown, and by 3 brothers, Roger, Albert and Robert.
Leon was a US Army and Navy Veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War, retiring as a Sgt 1st Class. He also was a Bronze Star recipient. After his service to his country, he worked as a security officer at Digital Corporation. He was a member of the Pilgrim Congregational Church in Leominster and sang in the church choir. Leon was also a member of the V.F.W in Leominster, sang in the International Veterans Chorus in Leominster and volunteered as a cook at Our Fathers Table.
