LEOMINSTER – Mitsuko (Mitzi) E. Howard, 84 years old, of Leominster died Friday, December 15, 2017, at home after a brief illness surrounded by her loved ones.
She is survived by her children; two daughters, Kathleen Shepherd and her husband, James of Georgia, and Patricia Antone and her husband, Jeff of Northborough; a son, Byran Howard and his wife, Lisa of Alabama; her daughter-in-law, Kim Howard of Leominster; her nephew, Steve Howard of Washington and seven grandchildren; Courtney Boucher (NJ), Nicholas Boucher (Northborough), Caitlin Lanning and her husband Josh (GA), Nicole Howard (Leominster), Eric Howard (CA), Kyle Howard (AZ), Tetsuo (Teddy) Howard (AL) and three great-grandchildren, McKenna Bergeron (Leominster), Wyatt Howard (AZ) and Layla Graham (AZ).
She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Paul Howard in 2015 and her son, Patrick Howard in 1996.
Mitsuko was born January 16, 1933 in Tokyo, Japan, the daughter of Yoshinosuke and Eyo Enomoto. She met and married her husband, Paul in 1955 who was serving in the U.S. Army and devoted herself to the life of a military wife for 22 years and mother. After raising her family, she enjoyed her time and friends working at NearEast in Leominster. In addition to her family, one of her proudest accomplishments was becoming a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1967. She possessed a strong will, great sense of humor and endless energy. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and tending to her many plants.
HOWARD -- A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 20th at 11 am in the Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West Street, Leominster. A calling hour will be held on Wednesday, December 20th from 10am -11am in the funeral home.
