Veikko Osmo Puputti, 88, of Fitchburg passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at his home in Fitchburg, MA. He was surrounded by his loving wife of 65 years, Elsie A. Puputti, daughter, Pamela J. Puputti and son, Mark O. Puputti. He also leaves two granddaughters, Alicia Puputti of Framingham and Marissa Puputti of Leominster.
Veikko was born on December 10, 1929 in Viipuri, Finland. He graduated from “Yliopisto,” similar to a junior college, in 1947, and emigrated to the United States in 1950, settling in Fitchburg, MA because of its large Finnish community at the time. He met his wife, Elsie, and married on December 30, 1951.
He truly found the American dream, starting his own successful business, Brenmar Molding (originally Lathe Masters Manufacturing Co. Inc.) on October 31, 1963. Brenmar manufactures custom injection molded products using engineering grade plastics for clients in multiple industries, and is currently owned and operated by his son Mark Puputti. A long commute was never a concern of Veikko’s because he was wise enough to establish his business 300 feet behind his home on Rindge Rd. His wife, Elsie, was beside him the entire time, building the business and managing production. Over the past 50 years, more than 50 people found fascinating employment at Lathe Masters and Brenmar.
Veikko was known for his great sense of humor and enjoyed spending time with family, travelling, and watching and participating in sports, including cross-country skiing, golf and tennis. His Christian faith was very important to him, and he was proud of his 25 years of perfect attendance with his Rotary Club.
A celebration of life memorial will be held on Wednesday, December 27 at 11:00 am at Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West St., Leominster MA. Doors will open at 9:00 am for visiting hours with the family. Burial will be private.
