ALBERTA E. DEARBORN, 89, of Groton, MA passed away on Monday June 15, 2026 at the Ayer Valley Nursing Center.
Mrs. Dearborn was born in Taunton, MA, September 6, 1936. She was the daughter of the late William R. and Eloise P. (Hubbard) Hutchins and grew up in Raynham, MA.
In 1954 she graduated from Taunton High School, then went on to complete studies at Miss Pierce Secretarial School in Boston.
While living in Boston as a secretary she worked for the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions and then the American Research and Development Corporation. In later years, she also enjoyed working as the nurse’s secretary for the Groton Dunstable School District.
In 1965 Alberta married the late David W. Dearborn and had two sons, which they raised for several years in Marlborough before becoming long-time residents of Groton, MA. They were married for 54 years.
Ever since she was a young child, Alberta was very active in church. She was a member of First Congregational Church of Raynham, Centenary Methodist Church of Auburndale, and Townsend United Methodist Church, often playing the piano or organ and singing in the choirs. She was a devoted wife and mother who maintained several life-long friendships. She enjoyed living on Knops Pond, cookouts, camping, bowling, and reading.
She was the sister of two brothers: the late Russell and Donald Hutchins.
Alberta will be lovingly remembered by two sons, Edwin D. Dearborn and Glenn E. Dearborn with his wife, Janet L. (Thomson), both of Leominster, as well as sister-in-law Charlotte Hutchins and her sons, nephew Stephen Dearborn, nephew William Hutchins Sr. and his son, and also Grandchildren Alana (Dearborn) LaVoie and Ryan Dearborn and 3 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held on Saturday June 27, 2026: Calling hours 1:00-3:00pm, Memorial Service 3:00-4:00pm. A private burial will be at a later date. Funeral arrangements are handled by Richardson Funeral Home 106 West St. Leominster, MA.
