Alderic J. Leger, 89, died Sunday, May 16, 2021, peacefully at the Meadows of Leicester.
He was born December 21, 1931, in Richibucto, New Brunswick, son of the late Tilmon and the late Lena (Arsenault) Leger. Alderic spent much of his young adult life in Leominster as an auto body mechanic. In addition to loving cars, Al enjoyed traveling to Canada, listening to country music, playing cards and watching sports - especially hockey! He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. As a devout Catholic, he genuinely loved helping others and made a difference in so many lives. He was a loving, caring and sweet man with a great sense of humor. During his time at the Meadows nursing home, the nursing staff and his family will always remember his fun-loving personality that could light up the whole room. Even something as simple as him laughing at silly cartoons brought so many people so much joy. He was an incredible person and an even more amazing father. He gave everything to make sure his children grew up with countless memories of camping and fishing that can never be forgotten.
His loving wife, Marie A. (Cormier) Leger passed away in 2005. Married in 1957, the couple shared 48 beautiful years together and the family takes comfort in knowing they are together again now. He was also predeceased by his brother, Emile Leger.
He leaves one daughter, Joanne Hilton and husband, Richard of Leominster; two sons, Michael Leger and wife, Diane of Englewood, FL and Gary Leger and wife, Catherine; seven grandchildren, Richard Hilton, Jr., Kimberly Hilton, Michael Hilton, James Hilton, David Hilton, Bradley Leger and Rachel Leger; three brothers, Marcel, Eddy and Raymond Leger; one sister, Leonie Cormier; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral Mass will be held Saturday, May 22, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Cecilia's Church, 180 Mechanic St., Leominster. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Cecilia’s Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from 9:30am ~ 10:30 am.
