Allan Peter Hallett, known affectionately as “Bud” to his friends and family, passed away peacefully at Leominster Hospital on January 31, 2026, at the age of 99. Born on April 22, 1926 in Clinton, Massachusetts, Bud was a man whose life was characterized by dedication, service and the love he had for his family and friends. His passing marked the end of a life lived with purpose and kindness.
Bud was a proud graduate of Ayer High School, class of 1943. His sense of duty to his country led him to join the Army Air Force during WWII where he served as a top turret gunner on a B24 stationed in England. His bravery and commitment during those challenging times were a testament to his strong character. After his honorable military service, Bud returned to his roots in Massachusetts where he soon met and married the love of his life Jean. After settling down in the home he built, he went on to have a successful career as an electrician, dedicating over thirty years to the James River Paper Co. before he retired.
Bud was preceded in death by his beloved wife Jean A. (Myer) Hallett. Together they built a family that would become Bud’s greatest pride. He is survived by his two daughters, Rebecca Bergeron and her husband Alfred, and Martha Testagrossa and her husband Barry. Bud’s legacy continues through his three cherished grandchildren Nicholas Testagrossa and his wife Kristin, Kristina Littlefield and her husband Devin and Danielle Fluet and her husband Aaron. His joy was multiplied with the arrival of his five great grandchildren Shayna, Cayde, Ryan, Nolan and Nora who will remember their great grandfather with fondness and admiration.
A man of faith, Bud was a devout Christian who lived his beliefs through his actions and interactions with others. His interests were a reflection of a life well lived and well loved. An avid woodworker, Bud had the ability to turn raw materials into beautiful and functional pieces, a skill that brought joy to many. His love for traveling took him to places far and wide but he found equal pleasure in the simple act of tending to his garden. Above all, Bud cherished the time spent with his family, recognizing that those moments were the most precious.
Bud was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Leominster where he worshipped faithfully every Sunday and was “on call” 24/7 if something needed to be built or fixed. No job was too big or too small for Bud. He was a member of the Heritage League of the Second Air Division, the 389th Bomb Group and the 8th Air Force all of which he attended yearly reunions. The friends he made over the years are too many to count.
Those who knew Bud would describe him as loving, thoughtful, and handy with a great sense of humor. He was able to see and enjoy the lighter side of situations and always had a little twinkle in his eye. His ability to fix and create was only matched by his capacity to care for those around him. His thoughtful nature made him a confidant and friend to many and his loving approach to life ensured that he was the heart of every family gathering.
Bud’s life was a journey that left a trail of memories cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed and his spirit will live on in the lessons he taught, the stories he shared and the love he gave, Allan Peter Hallett’s story is one of a life well lived and while his presence will be missed, his memory will forever be a guiding light for his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 29 at 11:00 AM at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 60 West St., Leominster, MA followed by a service at the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen St., Winchendon, MA.
