Ann Louise (Ferranti) McCarty

It is with great sadness that we announce that Ann Louise (Ferranti) McCarty, 77, a lifelong resident of Leominster, passed away early Saturday morning on October 7, 2023 at Leominster Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Ann was born on November 30, 1945 the daughter of the late Joseph and Lucy (DiMarzio) Ferranti. Ann graduated from Leominster High School in 1963 and for 30+ years, was the engine that drove the success of McCarty Limousine Service, a business founded by her husband, James McCarty Sr. Prior to her work at the Limo Service, Ann was a licensed hairdresser. During those hairdressing years, she met her lifelong companion and husband James Sr. and were married on a beautiful fall day on October 8, 1967. In addition to her work at McCarty Limo, Ann was a dedicated homemaker raising her two boys. Ann loved to travel and took several vacations with her husband along with family trips to the Cape. Las Vegas and Disney World were some of the regular destinations but her most memorable trips were to Monte Carlo in the late 80’s and again in the early 90’s. Ann retired after McCarty Limo was sold in 2000 and started doing the “snowbird thing” in Vero Beach, Florida while spending her summers at Great Island on Cape Cod. Ann loved spending time with her new friends in Florida and especially when her new grandchildren would come down while her son, Jim Jr lived in Florida. Ann’s smile would light up a room and her laugh was infectious. She loved spending her nights out with family and friends, hosting holidays and many other occasions at home, The Cape, or Vero. 

Ann leaves behind her husband of 56 years, James H. McCarty, Sr. Her son James McCarty, Jr and his wife, Lisa (Lane) McCarty of Leominster, MA. Her son, Ryan McCarty of Lawrenceville, GA. Her grandchildren Kaitlyn and Connor McCarty. Her sister Judith Bates and her husband Ronald Bates of E. Greenwich, RI. Her sister, Susan Bell and her husband Dennis of Myrtle Beach, SC. Her sister-in-law, Carrol (McCarty) Carlson and her husband Ralph of Vero Beach, FL. Her sister-in-law, Eileen McCarty of Leominster. Her Brother-in-law John Ferrera of Leominster. Along with several nieces and nephews. Ann was pre-deceased by her parents, Lucy and Joseph Ferranti.

Funeral Services are being handled by Richardson Funeral Home, 106 West St. Leominster MA 01453. Calling hours are from 4-6pm on Thursday, October 12, 2023 and from 10-11am on Friday October 13, 2023. There will be a short ceremony after Friday’s calling hour with burial immediately following in St. Leo’s Cemetery.
