Leominster - Anthony F.S. Whitton, 89, 1932-2022 passed away unexpectedly at his home Tuesday, March 29.
Tony was born in Lynn, MA to Mary (Saboski) Whitton and Anthony Saboski. He graduated from Lynn Classical High School. After high school, he worked as a Draftsman at GE/Lynn. He moved to Leominster when his mother was ill to run her company, Whitton Realty and Insurance, which he did for many years becoming co-owner and later owner. After selling his company, he went to work for ABM Insurance and still put in a full work week and never did retire. He loved his work. He fondly spoke of his "girls" in the office and never forgot a birthday.
He is survived by daughter Patricia McMahon of Lynn, granddaughter, Lindsay McMahon of Machias, Maine, Ryan McMahon of Lynn and his great granddaughter Finley.
He was predeceased by his wife of over 40 years, Gladys Whitton.
Tony loved to travel and was especially happy to visit Poland, the country of his heritage. He loved to shop and find a bargain, loved animals and he always had a good joke to tell. He was a big fan of The Boston Red Sox and attended many games. He was a thoughtful, loving and generous man to all and especially to his family. He was always there to help, and his family will greatly miss his calmness and great advice.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Tony's name may be made to an animal shelter of your choice or to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, PO Box 849168, Boston, MA or via www.dana-farber.org/gift.
