FITCHBURG – Arline Sinclair Finch, 92, of Fitchburg passed away October 20, 2015 at the Golden Living Center after a brief illness.
Arline was born on December 24, 1922 in Chicago, IL, the only child of Edith (Rundgren) and William Sinclair. She was raised in Arlington, MA and graduated from Chapel Hill School in Waltham, MA in 1941. She attended Bates College, where she met her future husband, leaving after three years to marry him while he was serving as a Naval officer during World War II.
Arline was a mother to many; nurturing not only her own children; but countless others; including campers at Camps Andover and Waldron in Meredith, NH and students at the schools she worked at in Fitchburg and for FLLAC Collaborative, both as a substitute and a paraprofessional. Her children were quite accustomed to sharing their home with others, and consider compassion for those most in need of love the greatest gift their mother instilled in them.
She was an active member of Faith United Parish. serving on the Outreach Committee and Diaconate for many years.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Carleton “Zeke” Finch; her son William Finch and his wife Margaret of Rindge, NH; her daughter Joanne Tulonen of Springfield, NH; her daughter Deborah Finch of Westminster, MA; her son David Finch and his wife Carolyn of Lunenburg, MA; her daughter Patricia Kelly and her husband Edward of Rindge, NH; her son William Judge and his husband Tom Scano of Delray Beach, FL; her son Thomas Judge of Cohasset, MA; and daughters of her heart, Ewa Friman of Sweden and Diane Normandin of Fitchburg, MA.
Also surviving are her twelve grandchildren and their families: Gregory Tulonen, Michael and Timothy Finch, Emily Polk, Jillian and Amy Finch, Andrew, Kathryn, and Thomas Kelly, Frank Abadie, Rachel and Tyler Judge; and her two great grandchildren: Connor and Riley Tulonen.
