LEOMINSTER -- Barbara J. Raftery passed away October 16 at Sterling Healthcare Center. A longtime Leominster resident, Barbara was born in Newton, Massachusetts, the daughter of Alice and Leo Raftery. She was a graduate of Our Lady Help of Christians High School, Newton and Emery School of Business, Boston. Barbara worked for many years as Supervisor of Client Services at Utica National Insurance Group and was later proprietor of Pawsitively Dog Treats in Leominster. She enjoyed time spent with relatives and friends, summers at John's Pond in Mashpee, and the company of animals.
Barbara is survived by her brother, Robert E. Raftery (Helen) of Leominster; a nephew, Patrick R. Raftery (Kim) and two great-nieces of Lancaster; and her dear cousin and lifetime friend Marylou Marchant. She also leaves behind her beloved dog, Mini.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 am on October 28 at Saint Leo’s Church, 128 Main St., Leominster. A calling hour will take place at 10:00 AM at the church prior to Mass. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
