Benjamin Parker Obituary

LEOMINSTER- Benjamin E. Parker, Jr., 87, of Leominster, died June 6, in his home, surrounded by family.

Mr. Parker was born June 2, 1937, in Newton, MA, son of the late Benjamin E. Sr. and Esther (Mortimer) Parker. He was a graduate of Athol High School and Becker College.

Ben was a Regional Credit Manager of Polaroid Corporation as well as the former Foster Grant Company of Leominster. He was a Loan Service Manager for the former Leominster Savings Bank and Vice President of Winchendon Savings Bank. He owned and operated his own collection agency for over ten years.

He was a retired Master Sargent in the Massachusetts Air National Guard having served with the 104th Fighter Wing in Westfield, MA and also the 212th Engineering Installation Squadron in Worcester, MA. He was stationed in Europe during the Berlin Crisis. He received a number of awards including the Meritorious Service Medal and the Air Force Achievement Medal.

Mr. Parker was a Past Exalted Ruler, former Trustee, member of the Scholarship Committee and Life Member of the Leominster-Fitchburg Lodge of Elks as well as running the Golf League and member of the Cribbage League. He was also a past President of the Montachusett Rotary Club. He was a member of Pilgrim Congregational Church where he served as a Deacon.

He is survived by his wife, Janet (Todd) Crossman Parker; his daughter, Lisa DeRosa and her husband, Sal of FL and extended family; a son, Benjamin E. Parker III and his wife Amy of Baldwinville; two stepsons, Scott Crossman and his wife Kathy of Sterling and Todd Crossman and his wife Suzie of Leominster; a granddaughter, Sydney DeRosa of FL, a grandson, Andrew Parker of Baldwinville and two step-grandsons, Jack and Maxwell Crossman who were “his pals”.

We would like to thank the Health Alliance Hospice team, Erin Thompson and all who took care of Ben, for their compassion.

Funeral services and burial at Evergreen Cemetery are private per his request.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
