Betty Schofield Obituary

Betty Elizabeth Schofield, age 69, of Fitchburg, Massachusetts, peacefully passed away on January 13, 2024, in Worcester, Massachusetts.

She was born in Groton, MA on July 11, 1954, and was the daughter of the late Gordon and Betty (Davis) Schofield. She was later raised by her adoptive parents, the late Nunzio J. and Leola M. (Schofield) Carbone. Betty lived a life filled with love, joy, and deep connections.

Betty graduated from Lunenburg High School in 1971 and furthered her education at Fitchburg State College. She dedicated over two decades of her career to Simonds Saw and Steel in the Human Resources Department. Betty was fond of sharing stories about playing the role of Mrs. Claus during the Simonds Christmas parties. After leaving Simonds, she worked for various companies in the local area. In her later years, Betty served as a Job Specialist for the Department of Unemployment Assistance, assisting individuals in the community.

Betty's unwavering faith was nurtured at Holy Family of Nazareth Church, where she found solace and spiritual renewal. Her connection to the church brought her great comfort and guidance throughout her life.

In her leisure time, Betty cherished the opportunity to travel, fulfilling a lifelong dream by visiting Hawaii and Niagara Falls. She and Ron often embarked on delightful road trips, often finding themselves at their favorite restaurant, Jimmy's, in Connecticut. Betty possessed a remarkable voice and delighted in singing, allowing her soul to soar through the melodies. Her greatest source of joy came from being surrounded by her loved ones, creating beautiful memories and recounting stories of a life well-lived.

Betty is survived by her cherished companion of 30 years, Ronald E. Vallee of Fitchburg, her son, Richard M. Bastien and his wife Tara of Ashburnham and her 3 sons, her daughter, Jennifer L. Woods and her husband Christopher of Fitchburg; and Ron’s children, Ronald Vallee and his wife Pamela of Lunenburg; Michael Vallee of Lakeville; and Nicole Vallee-Dufour and her husband Robert of Ashburnham. Betty was also a proud and caring grandmother to eight shared grandchildren: Kaeleigh, Sean, Symantha, Jake, Kate, Ryleigh, Camden, and Callum. She leaves behind her siblings Cheryl, Gordon, Lynda, Marie, and Vallery, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Betty was predeceased by her siblings Bryan, John, Patricia, Roger, and Susan.
