Bruce B. Hastings, 58, of Lunenburg, passed away Friday, October 30, 2015, at UMass Clinton Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Hastings was born in Fitchburg, March 1, 1957, the son of the late Raymond and Dora (Goguen) Hastings. He was a 1975 graduate of Fitchburg High School and later continued his education at Fitchburg State College.
Bruce was predeceased by his loving wife of 23 years, Patricia A. (Murphy) Hastings. He is survived by a son; Christopher Hastings and his wife Natasha Tocci of Gardner; a daughter; Rosemary Hastings of Hillsborough and two grandchildren; Cash Christopher Hastings and Cierra Ann Horton; a brother and sister in law; Bob and Mary Hastings of CA; a sister and brother in law; Veronica and Marshall (Hastings) Searles of FL. He was predeceased by a sister, Lee Daigle of California. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bruce devoted his career to help others. He worked as a volunteer Fire Fighter and EMT in central MA. Most recently, Bruce devoted himself to working with developmentally challenged adults and was employed by the Mentor Network Company in Worcester.
Bruce will be best remembered for his sense of humor and devotion to family and friends. Throughout his life he has always put others needs before his own. He will be missed by many and may his love for life continue through his family and lifelong friends.
