Carl Ciprotti Obituary

On the early morning of February 3, 2024, Carl Nicholas Ciprotti passed away at the Life Care Center in Leominster, Massachusetts as a result of a brief illness. He was 80 years old.

Mr. Ciprotti was born in Leominster, Massachusetts on April 19, 1943. He was the first child and first son of Beatrice M. Orecchia Ciprotti and David L. Ciprotti, Sr. Carl was proud of his Italian heritage especially being first born grandchild to Nicodemo Orecchia and Mary Lopriore.

Carl Ciprotti graduated in 1961 from Leominster High School and then went on to college where he attended Columbia University and Worcester Junior College. He graduated from Stevens Business College, Fitchburg, Massachusetts. Later he went on to the military.

Early on Mr. Ciprotti worked as a supervisor at Shirley Industrial School for Boys and then was relocated to various centers until the State closed its facilities. Carl opened other avenues of employment, but he never reached the same level of satisfaction he had had working with the boys.

Mr. Ciprotti enjoyed sports, from Monday Night Football with Howard Cosell back in the day to current football and baseball professional teams to LHS’s 2023 Thanksgiving Day game which Carl eagerly participated in all as an armchair quarterback. He also played football for his high school alma mater. Carl collected baseball cards and comic books for decades. His daughter created a special sports cards notebook that he cherished. Mr. Ciprotti was the first Leominster Little League coach to place a female player on a team.

Carl had several other interests, such as card playing with friends or with family at family gatherings which brought him great enjoyment. The poetry he wrote became published books. Much time was spent at the Leominster Senior Center in a creative writing group and a reading group.

Mr. Ciprotti was preceded in death by his father, David Ciprotti, Sr., his step-father Guy Walton, and his mother, Beatrice Ciprotti Walton. He is survived by his only child, Tiffany Ciprotti of Leominster, his brother David “Dub” Luigi Ciprotti of Oregon and step-brother Douglas Walton of Massachusetts, three nephews and one niece and their children, cousins, and many friends and acquaintances. In addition, he would want to mention his high school chum and lifelong friend - John Boyle.
