Carlos Jorge Duarte, a beloved father, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2024, in Leominster, Massachusetts, due to pneumonia. Born on September 1, 1952, in Tacuarembó, Uruguay, Carlos was a man of great skill and even greater heart.
Carlos, lovingly known as Carlitos to his close friends and family, brought joy and laughter to all who knew him. He was the cherished son of Blanca Rosa Duarte and the late Gualberto Gustavo Duarte. His life was a testament to the love and values instilled in him by his parents. He was a protective and caring brother to Marta Duarte and Gualberto Gustavo Duarte Jr., and an adored uncle to Alejandro Bisi and Kerrin Duarte.
In Uruguay, Carlos honed his craftsmanship and received a diploma in Carpentry, a skill that he carried with pride throughout his life. His dedication to serving others was evident in his early career as a policeman in his native country, where his analytical mind and attention to detail were greatly appreciated. After moving to Leominster, MA, Carlos continued to serve his community as a driver for MART buses, where he was known for his punctuality, reliability, and the friendly conversations he shared with his passengers.
Carlos was a headstrong man, whose beliefs guided him in every aspect of his life. His faith-filled nature was a source of strength and inspiration to those around him. He was also known for being incredibly handy, often found fixing things around the house or lending a helping hand to neighbors in need.
Beyond his work, Carlos was a true workaholic who found great pleasure in the fruits of his labor. However, he knew the importance of balance and cherished the annual get-togethers with family and friends. These gatherings were always highlighted by his legendary grilling skills and the beautiful garden that he meticulously cared for. His home was a hub of laughter, delicious food, and stories that would be shared long into the evening.
Carlos will be remembered as a man who lived his life with a combination of determination and warmth. His analytical mind allowed him to solve complex problems, both at work and in his personal life, while his kind spirit made him a confidant and friend to many.
He is survived by his devoted daughter, Catherine Duarte, who was the apple of his eye. His legacy of love, hard work, and faith lives on through her and all those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
Carlos's departure leaves a void in the hearts of his family and friends, but they take comfort in knowing that his spirit will continue to guide and watch over them, just as he did in life. His memory will be cherished and kept alive through the countless stories and memories shared by all who loved him.
A man of integrity and devotion, Carlos Jorge Duarte's life was a reflection of the values he held dear. He will be deeply missed, but the impact of his life's work and the love he shared will endure forever.
Services were held on Saturday, November 30th at Richardson Funeral Home, 106 West St. Leominster .
