LEOMINSTER- Carlton C. Whitney passed away on October 17, 2021.
Carlton was born on February 1st 1933 in Leominster Massachusetts to Leon and Marian Whitney. After graduating from Leominster High School in 1950, he proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956. After his service, he attended Worcester Junior College graduating with a degree in engineering.
Carlton worked at Foster Grant, then New England Telephone, retiring in 1989.
He was a dedicated member of Wilder Masonic Lodge in Leominster, along with various other Masonic branches. He was also a member of the Aleppo Shriners of Wilmington.
He enjoyed a lifetime of traveling with his family and friends, especially cruises. During the summer months, Carl could be found in Freeport, ME. In recent years, he enjoyed his daily coffee club meetings with his longtime friends. Most of all, he was happiest when spending time with his family who he loved dearly.
Carlton is survived by his wife of 59 years, Anita (Valentino) Whitney. His children: Donna (James) Manuel, James Whitney, Lisa (Charles) Smith, and daughter-in-law Patricia Whitney. He also leaves his daughter Margaret (Daniel) Zoesch and her family, who he was happy to connect with in the later years of his life. His grandchildren: Todd (Krystle) Manuel, Heather (Jeremy) O’Dea, Nicole Whitney, Jordan Whitney, Ciara Whitney, Jamie Whitney, and Rebecca Smith. His great-grandchildren McKenzie Manuel and Tyler Manuel. He is also survived by his sister Marian (Jack) Bowlus. He is predeceased by his parents; and his sisters Natalie Keogh and Florence Johnson.
Calling hours will be Thursday, October 21st, 5 – 7 pm at Richardson Funeral Home, 106 West St Leominster. The funeral service will be October 22nd, 10 am at Richardson Funeral Home with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
