It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carol Christy (Koutrakos) Chartrand, 79, of Tempe, Arizona.
Carol passed away of pneumonia, on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at Hospice of the Valley Friendship Village, Tempe AZ.
Carol was born on March 26, 1946 in Newport, Rhode Island to George and Mary Koutrakos. Carol lived in Ashby, Massachusetts, close to her parents, sister and extended family.
Carol was a devoted mother, known for her high spiritedness, quick wit and entrepreneurship. Carol’s radiant smile and laughter always lit up the room.
At the age of 45, Carol relocated from Massachusetts to Florida, where she and her husband David opened up a New England seafood restaurant.
Carol loved the beach, music, Disney World and all animals, but she held a special place in her heart for cats, especially her last two rescue kitties Susie and Daisy.
Carol is survived by her daughter Pandora Allen, daughter-in-law Theresa Keating, daughter Aristia Ninos, son-in-law Sam Ninos, grandchildren, Brittany Allen, Joshua Allen, Nikolas Kittredge, Steven Ninos, Andrew Ninos, Christopher Keating, Cameron Keating, sister Valerie Koutrakos and her life partner Thomas Crounse.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband David Chartrand, her father and mother George and Mary Koutrakos.
A funeral Mass service will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at 11:00 am at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 1319 Main St, Fitchburg, MA 01420, burial to follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, 115 Mount Elam Rd, Fitchburg, MA 01420. *There will be a remembrance at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox church one-hour prior (10:00 am) to the funeral Mass.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pat Brody Shelter for Cats.
Although Carol/Mom/Momma C./Yiayia, is gone, she will live in our hearts forever!
