LEOMINSTER-----Charles L Schofield Sr, 77 years old of Leominster, died Friday, July 22, 2016 in U-MASS Memorial- University Campus Worcester.
Charles was born June 2, 1939 in Leominster, MA, a son of George and Norma (Smith) Schofield. He graduated from Leominster High School class of 1957.Charlie was the Co-Owner of Schofields Garage in Leominster with his twin brother Barry, until his retirement in 2006.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years June A. (Hare) Schofield, his children, Charles Jr and his wife Becky from Maine, Brian and his wife Samira from Leominster and his daughter Linda and husband Rick from Leominster. His seven grandsons Todd, Andy, Tim, Pat, Josh, Dan, Matt and his granddaughter Mairead. He is also survived by his mother Norma Schofield of Leominster, and his brother Wayne and wife Pat of Leominster, and sister in law Betty Schofield of Leominster.
Charlie was a simple and humble man who enjoyed cutting wood with his boys and grandchildren. Over the years, Charlie and June enjoyed taking several cruises with their good friends, vacationing at Lake Winnipesaukee and later at their trailer in Old Orchard Beach. He loved playing his numbers and playing cards, sitting under his back deck and by his wood stove.
He was always there when anyone needed a helping hand with either car troubles or household projects. No project was too big for him.
Charlie was greeted with open arms by his late father George, twin brother Barry and his grandson Todd.
He will be truly missed by all whose lives he touched.
A funeral service for Charlie will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at 11am in The Congregational Church of Christ, 583 Main St. Leominster, all are asked to go directly to church. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Leominster. Calling hours in the funeral home are Monday, July 25, 2016 from 4pm - 7pm.
