Christel Bergeron Obituary

Christel M. Bergeron, of Leominster, MA, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2024, after a valiant battle with cancer. Born on April 11, 1944, in Fulda, Germany. She was 80 years young.

Christel's journey led her from her hometown in Germany to life as a military wife with her first husband to central Massachusetts, where she planted deep roots and built a life rich in experiences and relationships. She was a source of light to all who knew her, and her absence will be deeply felt. A loving mother and grandmother, Christel's legacy is cherished by her daughters, Sandie Cataldo, and her husband Ed of Westminster, MA, Sue Williams of Leominster, MA and Petra Kershaw of Missouri. She took pride in her role as 'Nana' to her adored grandchildren, Cadie Kershaw, Taylor Chacon, and Mateo Chacon, and her five great-grandchildren, who brought her joy.

Preceded in death by her parents, Elsa and Valentine Schreiner, her brothers, Carlo and Ernst Schreiner, and her second husband, Dan Bergeron, Christel's spirit is reunited with her loved ones.

Christel's friendships were deep and enduring. Imelda Fisher and Roberta Van Guilder, her best friends, stood by her side through the many seasons of life. Together, they shared laughter, tears, and countless memories that are now priceless treasures.

Christel loved dancing, the beach, picking daisies, traveling, and playing bunco with her friends. Outside of spending time with her family, who were the cornerstone of her world, her passion was walking. You would see Christel walking throughout the Leominster area, however her biggest accomplishment was the 30+ years she participated the 20 mile Walk for Hunger in Boston. More recently, Christel enjoyed aqua aerobics and her spin class at local gyms. Along with America's Got Talent, she never missed an opportunity to tune in to her favorite show, Dr. Phil. Christel Bergeron lived a life marked by loving kindness, thoughtful gestures, and an adventurous spirit.

Her memory will continue to guide and comfort those she leaves behind, as they remember her not for the finality of her departure, but for the enduring impact of her presence. Her story does not end with her passing but lives on through the countless lives she touched.

A funeral service for Christel will be held on Saturday, July 27 at 12 noon in the Richardson Funeral Home, 106 West St. Leominster. Calling hours will precede the service from 10am ~ 12 noon. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Leominster.
