David Agnew Obituary

David W. Agnew (65) of Leominster, MA passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 4, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 29, 1960 in Leominster, MA and lived a life marked by loyalty, hard work and a deep love for his family and friends. He was completely devoted to his wife Carol and the bond they shared was evident right up until his last moments.

David was a lifelong resident of Leominster and graduated from Leominster High School in 1978. He worked in food service his entire career starting at Monty’s Garden restaurant before moving to Bourbeau’s Market as a butcher. After a brief stint at Donelan’s in Littleton as a baker, he returned to the neighborhood that he loved and was devoted to Bourbeau’s for the rest of his career.

He became a fixture of life on French Hill and was known and loved by all who entered the store. There wasn’t anyone who he wouldn’t take the time to chat with or tell stories to. David was known to have a quick wit and left his family laughing right up until the end. He loved all New England sports, especially the Red Sox, playing darts and spending time with his friends at the Franco American Veterans Center. He and Carol were known to spend time playing games and cards, especially a continuous Uno game streak which started on their honeymoon and lasted 20 years.

He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 34 years Carol Agnew of Leominster, one brother Richard Agnew (Bonnie) of Cary, NC, four sisters Suzanne Layne (Darryl) of Wrenthan, Paula Agnew of Leominster, Diane Agnew of Thornton, Co and Vicki Losey (Ted) of Leominster. He also leaves behind 13 nieces and nephews, one great nephew, four aunts, one uncle, and many cousins along with countless good friends who will miss him dearly. He was predeceased by his parents, Sally Agnew (Grimley) in 2014 and Bruce Agnew in 2016 along with several of his aunts and uncles.

Calling hours will be Thursday, July 9th from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm at the Richardson Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family of Nazareth Church at 11:00 am on Friday, July 10th with burial at Evergreen Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association, the American Heart Association or to the Franco American Veterans Center. The family would like to thank the doctors, hospice staff and especially the nurses at UMass Memorial Leominster Campus for their loving care and support of David and his entire family.
