Following a long illness during which he consistently and proudly defied all medical odds and predictions, David E. Lavery died peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, November 26th, 2022.
A Leominster resident for the past 45 years, David was born on October 9th, 1953 in Fitchburg and graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1971. He was the youngest child of Raymond Lavery and Edith (Williams) Lavery. David recently celebrated his 69th birthday with a delicious Il Camino lunch, surrounded by those who loved him dearly.
David had an amazingly sharp and intelligent wit that brought his family endless joy and laughter and now, countless memories to treasure. He loved deeply and without conditions. He was an extremely loyal and exceptionally kind and gentle soul. He will be sorely missed by those whose now heavy hearts he leaves behind, especially his daughter, Jenna Lavery Quigley, who was the light and love of his life, and her husband, Patrick Quigley and his granddaughters Arden and Imogen.
He also leaves behind his sister Mary Kuizinas and her husband Charles; his brother William Lavery; his nieces Andrea and Alissa and his friend and former spouse Deborah Namvar. David also leaves behind his cherished and longtime partner and very best friend, Jeanne Provost, whom he loved beyond measure.
David was a 1971 graduate of Fitchburg High School. He made his career as a manager for Victory and Hannaford Supermarkets. David had a tremendous work ethic and modeled the values of honesty, integrity, and humility at all times. He loved the Boston Red Sox, cooking, his cats, traveling to the beach, and observing all of the wildlife his backyard had to offer. David enjoyed reading and discussing “Leominster Legends” of all kinds and indulging his granddaughters with epic “grandparent gifts”...the sort parents refuse to buy but that make kids very happy.
On Friday December 2nd, a memorial service celebrating David’s life and the time we shared together will be held at Richardson Funeral Home, 106 West Street, Leominster MA. Visitation will be from 10-11 with a brief service immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the Rose Monahan Hospice Home in memory of David to support patient care through the VNA: 120 Thomas St., Worcester, MA 01608 or via www.vnacare.org.
