Derek Laviolette Obituary

LEOMINSTER---Derek George Laviolette, 39 years old, passed away suddenly in Leominster on September 7, 2018.

Derek was born in Leominster on November 21, 1978, he spent his youth in Leominster and divided his adult years between Florida and Massachusetts. Derek obtained his diploma through a GED program.

Derek leaves behind his mother and stepfather, Shelly (Hesketh) and Larry “Lar” Guay of Melbourne FL; his brother Adam L. Laviolette (partner Lauren Blesch) of Cocoa, FL; stepsister Alissa Guay of Fitchburg.

Derek was predeceased by his father, John “Jack” A. Laviolette, his paternal grandparents Pearl and Leon Laviolette, and his maternal grandfather, George H. Hesketh, all of Leominster.

Derek leaves his maternal grandmother Jacqueline M. Hesketh of Leominster, aunts and uncles: Tammy and Mike Piermarini of Leominster, Wendy Hesketh of Leominster, Cathy and Larry Lovett of Merritt Island, FL, cousins Ryan, Nicole, and Erin Piermarini, and Gordon Hamel.

On Derek’s paternal side he leaves uncles and aunts: Mark and Nicole Laviolette of Townsend, Paul and Kendra Laviolette of Leominster, cousins Donna Cormier-LeBlanc and Russell Robidoux, Karen Cormier and Leslie “Tinker” Stewart, Sharon Cormier, Jeremy and Dina Laviolette, Lea Laviolette, and Jack Laviolette.

On Derek’s stepfather’s side he leaves his grandparents Alberta and Jean Claude Guay of Barefoot Bay, FL, aunts and uncles: Sylvie and Joe Thibeau of New Salem, Joanne and Mike Caisse of Fitchburg, Lucie Guay of Melbourne, FL, and cousins Samantha and Anthony Caron, Aaron and Ashley Thibeau, Natalie and Jeff Reynolds, Ashley and Dan LaBarre, Tyler and Jess Caisse, Ashley and Cory Colbert.

Although Derek struggled with and was taken by addiction, throughout it all, he remained a beautiful soul: loving, kind, gentle, compassionate, giving, magically charismatic, and gifted with great intelligence and creativity. Derek was loved by all who met him and he loved all he met. Derek would literally give the shirt off of his back if you needed it more. Derek was artistically gifted and loved to create art. Music was in Derek’s soul: you would not see him without a song or a tune on his mind or in his step. Like his father and stepfather, Derek had the knack of construction in him and his multi-talented workmanship within several fields was praised with regard and respect.

Derek will be greatly missed by some of his closest friends who bear mention here for the love that they gave him: Tarah and Mike Schmidt, Brent Sabol and Jen DeLuca, Jason Fabel, Shayne and Kayla Savoie, as well as many more.

I am a part of all that I have met. ~Alfred Lord Tennyson
