Diane Shepherd Obituary

Diane P. Shepherd, affectionately known by her loved ones as Diane, was called to her eternal home on December 13, 205, at the age of 89 surrounded by her loving family. Born on July 21, 1936, in Leominster, Massachusetts. Diane’s journey was one of unwavering faith, dedicated service, and boundless love.

Diane grew up in the town of her birth, where she graduated from Leominster High School, marking the commencement of a life rich in community involvement and service. Her commitment to her country was evident through her proud service as a United States Navy Veteran. Following her military service, Diane continued to serve her community as an Administrative Assistant at the Leominster City Clerk’s office in City Hall, the Worcester State Hospital, and later at Weight Watchers. Her diligent work and warm presences left a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

In her personal life, Diane was a devoted Christian, finding strength and solace in her faith. Her relationship with God was the cornerstone of her existence, guiding her through life’s trials and triumphs. Diane’s life was a testament to her belief in the power of prayer and the importance of fellowship. She was a cherished member of Our Lady of the Lake Church, where she knitted Prayer Shawl blankets alongside her friends, dedicating each stitch to those in need of comfort and solace.

Family was Diane’s heart and joy. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, George P. Shepherd, a United States Navy Veteran. Together, they raised f family of four children who were her pride and joy: James Shepherd and his wife Kathy of Kennesaw, GA; Lori DiManno and her partner Paul Landry of Leominster, MA; Donna Clune and her partner Donnie Frazier of Ormond, FL; and Scott Shepherd of Fitchburg, MA. Her legacy continued to flourish through her five grandchildren: Jamie Erickson and her husband Nathan, Chelsey Burford and her husband Jason, Anthony DiManno and his wife Theresa, Caitlin Lanning and her husband Josh, and Kimberly Michaud and her husband Tim. The family circle expanded with the birth of her four great-grandchildren: Trinity, Savannah, Hunter, and Riley, who brought her immeasurable happiness.

Diane’s zest for life was evident in her hobbies and interests. She cherished the simple pleasures of sharing meals with friends and family, where laughter and stories were abundant. Her adventurous spirit often led her to the excitement of the casino, where she enjoyed the camaraderie as much as the games. Diane’s hands were rarely still, as she found joy in knitting, a skill she lovingly applied to create precious gifts for new babies and treasured friends.

Diane’s final chapter came to close, she faced her battle with pancreatic cancer with the same grace and courage that characterized her entire life. She passed away in her home surrounded by the love of her family, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, service and devotion.

Diane P. Shepherd’s life was a beacon of light to all who knew her. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive in the hearts of her family, friend, and all the lives she touched. Her spirit, now at peace, will continue to inspire those she left behind, as they hold on to the precious memories of life well-lived and a woman well-loved.
