Dorothy Moore Obituary

LEOMINSTER-----Dorothy Agnes (0’Sullivan) Moore, 77 years old of Leominster, passed away on May 21, 2015 following a brief illness. She was born to the late George and Anna O’Sullivan in Leominster on April 4th 1938. Dorothy grew up in the Leominster and Fitchburg area and attended St. Bernard’s Central Catholic Schools, graduating in 1957. In July 1961, Dorothy married William H. Moore Jr. and they enjoyed extensive travels and many adventures in the United States and Central America while Bill served in the US Army. During these years, Dorothy and Bill also added four children (Anne, Bill, Tom, and Phil) to their family.

Following her graduation from high school, Dorothy began working at the New England Telephone, which led to a career in telecommunications working in many locations across the globe. After retiring from the military in 1977, the family settled in Fitchburg where Dorothy was the Director of Phone Operations at Foster Grant and was then employed by Burbank Hospital as the Telecommunications Director until her retirement in 1995. Since her retirement, Dorothy enjoyed visiting her children and grandchildren and being an active volunteer for several organizations that cared for people without homes. She was named volunteer of the year for the Montachusett Interfaith Hospitality Network, which recognized the many hours of service she gave to families in crisis.

Dorothy was a loving mother and is survived by her children and their spouses: Anne and Robert Willet (Fishers, IN), William and Stephanie Moore (Cary, NC), Thomas and Kerri Moore (Vista, CA), and Phillip and Andrea Moore (Lunenburg). Being a grandmother was one of Dorothy’s greatest joys and her grandchildren, Kati Gillikin, Emily Skaife, Elisa, Adrienne, Maya, Arthur, Bennett, and Aidan Moore will always cherish fond memories of time spent with “Gram.” Three great-grandchildren, Tegan and Jakob Gillikin and Emersyn Reynolds also survive, as well as two siblings, John O’Sullivan (Sebring, FL) and Patricia Gagne (Leominster). Dorothy is predeceased by her husband, Bill, March 28, 2014 as well as her siblings Thomas, William, George and four sisters: Eileen, Mary, Lorraine and Anne.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 10 am in St. Bernard’s Parish at St. Camillus de Lellis Church, 333 Mechanic Street, Fitchburg.
