Douglas Bliss Obituary

LEOMINSTER --- Douglas Bliss, 68, passed away unexpectedly on the evening of Tuesday, March 24th, 2020 while doing something he love, riding his bike for exercise.

Doug is survived by his best friend and beloved wife of 31 years, Diane (Lizotte) Bliss and his two children, Daniel Bliss, 29 of Fitchburg, and Norma Bliss, 27 of Hamden, CT. He also leaves behind his two brothers, Richard Bliss and Roger Bliss, two sisters Pamela “Bonnie” Wright and Susan Wetzel, as well as many, many nieces and nephews to whom he was known as “Uncle Doug”.

He is predeceased by his mother Marion (Bally) Bliss and father Warren Ernest Bliss.

Doug loved life and those he shared it with. Doug worked as an engineer for Renaissance Electronics and Communications for the past 5 years and several other places as a Mechanical Design Engineer. In his free time, Doug enjoyed many hobbies including cycling, skiing, rollerblading and gardening. He was an avid cyclist who often rode from Leominster up to the top of Mount Wachusett. A self-proclaimed “skill-collector”, Doug had many other unique hobbies including unicycling, juggling and solving Rubik’s Cubes one-handed. He was also a youth soccer coach for his children, and a big fan of the New England Revolution and Patriots.

Doug was every child’s favorite. From his children, to his nieces and nephews, to his students in Sunday School where he taught weekly at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Clinton. You would often find him at family parties and outings entertaining the kids and pets. Everyone loved “Uncle Doug” and will miss him dearly.
