Douglas A. Bourgault, age 65, died Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Life Care Center in Leominster after a period of declining health.
Born May 29, 1959, Doug was the 5th of 6 children born to Roland and Jacqueline (Belliveau) Bourgault, all of whom were given names starting with “D”.
Doug graduated from Leominster Trade High School in 1977, where he focused on electronics and played both JV & Varsity football as a proud member of the Blue Devils. His career began in 1975 at Digital Equipment Corp. as part of the LHS co-op program, and he continued working at DEC for many years. Doug proudly served in the Army National Guard, receiving an honorable discharge in 1991. Over the years, he held various positions in the IT field. A particularly proud moment came while working at New England Sports Network (NESN) when the Boston Red Sox won the 2013 World Series and Doug was thrilled to receive a team Championship ring.
Doug married Sheryl (Beauregard) in 2000 and, although divorced in 2023, they remained a close family devoted to their son, Jaxon. Doug proudly taught Jax to replace his own car’s brakes, fix a lawn mower, snow blower, and how to MacGyver the last bit of life out of just about anything. They created precious memories mini-golfing, going to concerts & military air shows, recently braving 12 hours of traffic round trip to Vermont to witness the total eclipse in April.
He is survived by his son, Jaxon D. Bourgault; his former wife, Sheryl A. (Beauregard) Bourgault; sister Diane I. Bourgault (Paul Normandin); brother Donald C. Bourgault (Angie); aunt Dolores Cordio and many nieces & nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, David E. Bourgault (Lee); sister Donna M. Currier; brother, Daniel R. Bourgault (Monica) and his in-laws, Richard & Nancy Beauregard.
Our family extends heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the staff at Life Care Center for their compassion and guidance over the last four months. Helen, Britta, Melanie & Danielle: you are truly angels on Earth.
There are no calling hours and burial will be private.
