LEOMINSTER---Edward C. Baker, 90 years old, of Leominster, died Sunday, December 31, 2017 in HealthAlliance-Leominster Hospital after a brief illness. He is survived by his son Stephen E. Baker and his wife Linda E. of Leominster; daughter Patricia E. Robinson of Somerset; stepson Angelo(Jay) Bertolozzi, Jr. of Westminster; 3 grandchildren Colleen Purtell, Michael Robinson and Tony Beckwith; and 6 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his 1st wife Marion (Blanc) Baker in 1975 and by his 2nd wife Isabel (Lombardi) Baker in 2010. He was also predeceased by his 2 brothers Herbert Baker and William Baker, his son in law James Robinson and stepson Paul Bertolozzi.
Ed was born in Fitchburg on November 4, 1927, son of Edward F. and Molly M. (Caissey) Baker and was a lifelong Leominster resident. He graduated from Leominster High School in 1946 and from Stevens Business College in Fitchburg. Ed served in the U.S. Marine Corp. He had owned and operated many small businesses throughout his working career. His last business before retiring was owning Colony Liquors of Leominster with his wife Isabel. Ed was a member of St. Anna Church and the Leominster/Fitchburg Lodge of Elks.
Ed’s funeral service will be held on Friday, January 5th from the Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West Street, Leominster with a mass at 11 am in St. Anna Church, 194 Lancaster Street, Leominster. Burial will be in St. Leo’s Cemetery, Leominster. Calling hours will be held on Friday morning from 9-10:30 am in the funeral home prior to the mass. The family requests in lieu of flowers that a donation be made in Ed’s memory to a charity of their choice.
