LEOMINSTER - Erna H. Christacakos, 88 years old, of Leominster, died Wednesday morning, November 1, 2017 in UMass Memorial Medical Center Worcester after a short illness.
Erna was born September 27, 1929 in Berlin Germany where she grew up. In Germany is where she met her soul mate, Charlie who was in the United States Military. In 1954 they came to the U.S. where they settled in Leominster and began their family together.
She leaves 2 daughters Debbie Christacakos whom lived with her, Carey Emby and husband Larry of Leominster, sister Erika Halig of Maynard, sister Hildegard of Gottingen Germany, and sister in law Pauline Mosterd of Chicago, 3 grandchildren, Kimberly Booth and her husband Shaun, Kristen Emby and Nina Emby. 3 great grandchildren Brynn, Alexianna and Carter. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her husband of 59 years Charlie, who was the love of her life. Her son Theodore, and her sister Martha of Germany.
Erna was a member of St. Mark’s Church in Leominster. She enjoyed sewing, baking for her church, gardening and making sure her house was perfect. She was vibrant and very meticulous. She had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone. She loved spending time with family and having gatherings where she would always make sure everyone was well fed. She was a gift to everyone that knew her and she will be greatly missed.
Erna’s funeral will be held on Wednesday November 8th at 11 in the Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West Street, Leominster.A calling hour will be held from 10am -11am. Burial will be private.
