Leominster- Ernest J. Savoie, 94, of Leominster, passed away as his wife Alice was found kissing his cheek and holding his hand.
Ernest was born, April 18, 1928, in New Brunswick, Canada, son of the late Thomas and Laura Savoie.
He was a self-taught accomplished fiddler and musician. He played until the age of 90 in a band in Florida where his wife accompanied him singing. He also worked at Simplex as a press worker for many years.
He leaves his wife of 22 years, Alice T. (Nowlan) Richard Savoie, his late brothers, Leon, Aldarice, Gerald and George, his late sisters, Germaine Sawyer, Bertha LeBlanc, Anna Zelnia and survived by Norman and Agnes Gallant. He also leaves his step children; the late Rudolph J. Richard, Raymond J. Richard, Robert J. Richard, Lucie M. Boucher, Claudette M. Melanson, Cecile M. Kelemen and Jeannine M. LeBlanc. He also leaves his children Rose Mae Saurino and Denise. He leaves many grandchildren and great grandchildren. It goes without saying he leaves Dr. Robert Kelemen, Ernest’ son-in-law who played a pivotal role in the health care of being Ernest's personal Doctor over many, many, many years!
Calling hours are Saturday, January,21 from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at Richardson Funeral Home, 106 West Street Leominster.
The Funeral Mass will follow on Saturday January, 21 at 12:30 PM at St. Cecilia’s Church, 180 Mechanic St. Leominster. Burial will be private at a later date.
