Ethel C. Cote, age 86, beloved wife of the late Claude N. Cote, passed away peacefully
on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at her home in Leominster, Massachusetts.
Born on December 18, 1935 in Worcester, Massachusetts, Ethel was the daughter of the
late William Korp and Estelle (Bielack) Korp-Monroe. Ethel was one of six children raised in
Auburn, Massachusetts. She married Claude and traveled many years as a military soldier’s
wife raising their seven children. In 1964, they settled in Leominster, Massachusetts where
they spent sixteen years before moving to Wolfeboro, New Hampshire and then to Callawassie
Island, in Beaufort, South Carolina where they shared a winter home.
While living in New Hampshire, Ethel became an avid golfer at the Kingswood Golf Club
where she was a club champion, past president and became a member of the hole-in-one
club. On a summer’s night, Ethel loved to watch the sunset over Lake Winnipesaukee. She also
enjoyed a challenging Bridge match.
Ethel will be remembered and truly missed by her seven children: Stephen Cote and his
wife Angela of Hyannis, MA, Brian Cote and his wife Lisa of Fitchburg, MA, Andre Cote and
wife Suzanne of Washington D.C., Suzette Thibeault and Husband Kenneth of Fitchburg, MA,
Valerie Housser and husband Chris of Leominster, MA, Gerard Cote and wife Karen of
Wolfeboro, NH and Joseph Cote and Linda Prackup of Millbury, MA. She is also survived by her
sister Susan Ozcan, and twenty-one grandchildren, five great grandchildren and many nieces
and nephews. In addition to her husband and her parents, Ethel was predeceased by her
grandchildren Kenneth Thibeault and Timothy Thibeault, her sister Patricia (Korp) Booth and
her three brothers Charles Korp, Paul Monroe and Dennis Monroe.
A private family service will be held at Richardson Funeral Home in Leominster,
Massachusetts on November 18, 2022. A burial will follow at Hope Cemetery in Worcester,
Massachusetts where she will be laid to rest next to her devoted husband.
