With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Floyd Harold Fowler, age 80, proud father of 3 children, proud grandfather of 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, of Fitchburg, MA. He passed away from cancer peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones on November 14, 2025.
Floyd was born in Gardner in 1944 to William & Dorothy Fowler, and he has many fond memories of growing up on his Scottish paternal grandparents farm in Hubbardston, MA. Floyd was a graduate of Gardner High School in 1964 and was an outstanding athlete in football, baseball, and track. Floyd was a sought out butcher and meat manager for over 50 years. He served in the Navy for 2 years and was a proud veteran.
Floyd was a devoted and loving husband to Paulette (Beauvais) Fowler for 60 years. He was a dedicated and affectionate father to Christine, Eric, and Tracy, who dearly miss him and the life lessons he imparted to them. Floyd would always give big hugs and make a point to never say goodbye, instead he would emphasize “see you later”.
Floyd took great pride in being a grandparent, and he especially enjoyed spending quality time with family and attending all the grandchildren and great grandchildren’s activities. Family was of utmost importance to Floyd and he would always tell everyone he was so grateful, thankful, and blessed for his family.
When Floyd wasn't busy with his family, you could find him tending to his yard. He had a green thumb and was an avid gardener, creating beautiful gardens and landscapes at home. He enjoyed making a peaceful sanctuary for all the birds and nature around him.
Floyd is survived by his wife Paulette, daughter Christine, her husband Steve, son Eric and wife Michelle, and daughter Tracy and partner Antonio. He was a proud grandfather to Hannah Pothier and husband Adam, Madison Franciosi and husband Brett, Zach Fowler and fiance Gabriella Fredricks, Katelyn Almeida and husband Ben, Cody Mosher, and brothers Wyatt and Hayden Thomas.
He was a proud great-grandfather to Blake, Ellie, Leo, and Remi Pothier, Cole, Levi, and Stella Franciosi, and Solomon Almeida.
He leaves behind two brothers, Glenn and Brian Fowler, and a loving sister, Marie Barnaby.
