Gail Purretta Obituary

Gail Ingalls Purretta, 68, a longtime resident of Leominster, MA, passed away at her home on Saturday March 11, 2023, after a long illness in the loving presence of her husband John Purretta.

Gail, the daughter of Doris and Norman Ingalls, formerly of Merrimac, MA was born in Worcester, MA. Gail attended Pentucket Regional High School and Northern Essex Community College. From there she went on to join the United States Army serving in South Korea for two years. Upon return she worked as an EMT having received her certification from Northeastern University, and then went onto Digital Equipment Corporation where she met her husband, John.

Gail and John were married on board the ship Norwegian Majesty on July 14, 2002. They enjoyed many years of traveling to Bermuda (their favorite), Hawaii, Canada and the White mountains of New Hampshire, and the Caribbean. Gail loved get togethers with family. She loved the holidays and especially Christmas time. She also loved animals, her favorite being horses. Gail was a member and volunteer with the Pilgrim Congregational Church in Leominster, MA. She was also an active member of the American Legion Post 151 in Leominster, at one point serving as Assistant Vice Commander.

Gail leaves behind her husband John Purretta, her brother Robert and wife Cheryl Ingalls along with Nephew’s Jonathan and wife Rebecca, great nieces Avah and Allison also Matthew and wife Jenna, great nieces Kaleesi and Sage Ingalls, including a Cousin Phillip Ingalls living in Hawaii.

Gail’s family would like to extend a very special thank you to Amedysis Hospice staff Leominster, MA for their amazing comfort, care and love for Gail and family.

Visiting hours will be held Wednesday March 22, 2023, from 10am to 12pm at Richardson Funeral Home 106 West Street Leominster, MA. Funeral service with interment service will follow at 12 noon in Richardson Funeral Home.

Private burial will be at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery Winchendon, MA.

In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals: MSPCA 350 S Huntington Avenue, Jamaica Plain, MA
