George Dewey Beaupre, 94, passed away peacefully surrounded by those he loved and adored most on Friday, March 24th, after a long battle with declining health.
He was born in Worcester, MA on August 29th,1928 to George and Gladys Beaupre. He resided in Fitchburg with his granddaughter, Jennifer Chisholm, her husband Raymond, and their three children. Jennifer was his caregiver for almost two decades. George was the second born out of 6 children, all of whom predeceased him. He dropped out of school in 7th grade due to his father’s declining health and need for taking care of the rest of his family.
George worked at Foster Grants in Leominster for almost ten years. He then worked in the scrap metal business for about 40 years at Leroy Scrap Metal, Winthrop Steel and Beaupre Scrap.
He loved to spend his time watching old westerns such as Gunsmoke, Walker Texas Ranger and anything John Wayne. He also spent a lot of his time with his family whom he adored, especially his grandkids. He loved listening to oldies such as Johnny Cash and Frank Sinatra.
He was an avid lover of baseball, especially the Boston Red Sox. For football, he loved the 49ers and the Giants, but was not fond of the Patriots.
George was predeceased by his loving wife of 34 years, Patricia (Bailey) Beaupre, who died in 2016. He is survived by his 7 children; George Jr., Francis, Kevin, Maryann, Alice, Fred and another son, 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who referred to him as “Uncle Sonny”.
