LEOMINSTER --- George A. “Ted” ‘Porka” Douglas, 76 years old of Leominster died Monday, April 25, 2022, in the Blair House in Worcester, after a long illness.

George was born August 16,1945 in Leominster MA. the son of George E. Douglas and Beverly (Wass) Douglas and was a Lifelong Leominster resident.

He leaves his wife of 48 years, Ann (Soubie) Douglas, his two daughters, Sarah Lynn Douglas, and Laura Kay Douglas-LeBlanc and her husband Brian LeBlanc, two granddaughters, Ava Nicole LeBlanc, and Emma Reese LeBlanc, his two brothers, Stephen Douglas and his wife Linda, and Kenneth Douglas, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

George graduated from Leominster High School in 1964 and Springfield Technical College with an Associate of Science Degree in 1972.  After serving in the US Navy- Vietnam War Veteran from 1966-1969 as a shipfitter, he returned to work at the family-owned business, Leominster Plumbing and Heating where he spent his entire career as a pipefitter/welder.  He was a member of Pilgrim Congregational Church serving on the board of missions, also a member of the Leominster/ Fitchburg Lodge of Elks.

George "Porka" enjoyed time with family and friends.  He was an avid bowler and bocce player in several leagues throughout the years and enjoyed summer vacations at the Cape.  

 The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Blaire House in Worcester for all the care given George throughout the years.

 A memorial service for George will be held on Saturday, May 7,2022 at 11am in Pilgrim Congregational Church, 26 West St. Leominster. Burial will be at a later date at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon. There are no calling hours. 

In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd, Waltham, MA 02452.
